Aluminium Primer
Aluminium Primer
A primer system specifically designed for use on aluminium and aluminium alloy surfaces. Although specifically designed for aluminium surfaces the product also performs extremely well on galvanised steel. The acrylic polymer base of the product makes it particularly suitable for use where the substrate temperature is continuously 50oC to 100oC. Granville Aluminium Primer can be overcoated with Hammered and Smooth Metal Finish Paints which are particularly recommended as a topcoat systems for this product.
Do not top coat with solvent based 2 pack paints, 2 pack epoxy, 2 pack acrylic or 2 pack polyurethane paints - water based 2 packs can be used.
Suggested Uses:
Granville Aluminium Primer has been successfully used as a primer system on cast aluminium furniture, aluminium sheets and on galvanised steel roof cladding.
Preparation
i) Aluminium: Degrease prior to painting
i) Galvanised Steel: Should be degreased prior to painting.
Application
It is recommended to carry out an initial test area at all times. This test should take place in the working conditions of application. The topcoat system should also be tested for compatibility.
Stir the product thoroughly before use. Apply a minimum of two coats by brush spay or roller to achieve a wet film thickness of 120-190um per coat (50 - 75um DFT)
Brush Apply product evenly by brush using multi-directional strokes to ensure adequate coverage of the substrate.
Roller Use a short nap roller and apply the coating evenly, edges may need to be stripe coated by brush to ensure the substrate is completely coated.
Spray The coating may be applied by air assisted or airless spray techniques.
